The New Age of Technology
Blogroll July 30th, 2007Just ten years ago computers were still pretty expensive and the Internet was a relatively new phenomenon that many did not know how to use. Today, gadgets and technology are commonplace in society and just about everyone knows what Yahoo and Google are used for. The computer industry spent most of the early millennium on the up-rise as stock prices soared with consumer interest in online activities. Although this trend has somewhat diminished in recent years, there is no question that computers are used for many different purposes and ways by consumers today.
In the old days, people used to have to write notes during college courses or work meetings. Today, however, a person can just buy a Notebook / Laptop computer and write as they listed to a person talk. Laptops are very useful computers that are best known for their transportability. Unlike traditional computers, they are not very heavy and can be plugged into any outlet and used right away. The efficiency of meetings and other events needing notes have gone up exponentially because of this flexibility offered by the usage of notebooks.
On the other hand, many people use their computers for entertainment purposes. A high-end Graphics Card can be used to play video games that match console graphics and game play on a computer. And the ability to connect to online servers and face people from around the world is a distinct advantage the PC has over other video game consoles. Indeed it becomes simple to see why computers are the preferred gaming machine of many gamers these days.
Of course, not everyone is happy just playing video games and using their computers for work. For those, there are plenty of other options. A Digital Camera can be plugged into most computers and used. Pictures can be edited, printed, and sent through e-mail to friends and family with the ease of clicking a button. In fact, digital cameras have become so popular that using traditional one-hour photo return businesses has become old-fashioned over the last decade.
And that’s not all a person can do. Information can be found easier then ever with a couple of searches on engines. Spreadsheets can be made to collect and keep data from experiments and studies. And so on, the possibilities are endless. And with technology improving every year, who knows what we’ll be doing next with our computers?
