Ryan Sheckler started skateboarding at only the age of 18 months when he found one of his Dad’s old skateboards. It’s been said Ryan spent over twenty hours a week perfecting new skateboarding tricks. He has even invented his own skateboarding trick called the Sheck-Lair. By the time he was 12 years old he already turned a pro skateboarder. He has since won multiple contests such as the Dew Tour, Gravity Games and even the biggest extreme sports competition; the X Games. Ryan Sheckler has a huge fan base that consists of skateboarding fans, teenagers, adults, and plenty of young girls that are attracted to his good looks and diamond studded earings. MTV has recently given him a deal to do his own T.V. show. It will follow his life as he trys to balance a regular teenage life with the life of being a professional skateboarder. The show will give both Ryan Sheckler and skateboarding another huge boost in popularity.

MTV scored big with their most recent show following Rob Dyrdek a professional skateboarder who happens to be sponsored by DC Shoes. DC Shoes has busted through the doors of pop culture. Though intended for skateboarding their clothing line is liked by such stars as Adam Sandler and Travis Barker. DC Shoes was the first clothing company to do anything of that kind.

The growth of skateboarding appears to be endless and not a trend like “scootering” in the early 2000’s. It will be around for a long period of time and will continually work its way into pop culture.
