Blogroll December 21st, 2007World Vision is a Christian organization that helps children and communities throughout the world to tackle poverty. The aim of World Vision is to build a better world for children. There are currently many countries throughout the world that participate in the Word Vision program.
World Vision Australia began in 1966 to help refugees from Indochina, as well as disaster survivors from Bangladesh and many countries in Africa. Shortly after its opening, the World Vision Australia office began child sponsorship programs to aid Australians who were searching for ways to help needy children. By implementing programs dealing with education, health, and nutrition, World Vision has helped throughout Australia to aid needy children in many aspects of their lives. In 2004, the website for World Vision Australia “One Big Village” was launched. This website gives Australians many ways to make a difference throughout their community.
World Vision Canada began long ago as a partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency, including help from churches, the Canadian government, educational institutions, and many not for profit organizations. By implementing the World Vision ethics and programs, Canadians are helping to address major issues dealing with things such as child rights, hunger, health issues, and landmine banning. Currently the World Vision Canada program supports a 30 hour famine program which was instilled to raise the needed funds in order to aid in the world wide fight to end hunger, poverty, and injustice. During 2004, there were more than 480,000 Canadians who donated more than $260 million to the World Vision program in order to help change the lives of children from all over the world. This included a child sponsorship program that helped more than 338,000 children from everywhere in the world. Canadian business partners teamed up and donated over $60 million in gifts and an additional $10.6 millions was then raised in order to provide assistance to disaster survivors in many countries including Iran, Iraq, Haiti, Sudan, and the Dominican Republic.
Through World Vision, many children have been given better homes and better lives. With the ongoing conflict throughout the world, the Vision World program is giving hope to poverty stricken communities.
